Tech Yoda’s Tip of the Week: Delegate to Your Delegates!

There may come a time where you need to give someone else access to your email or calendar, and it's not as intuitive a process as it was in Outlook 2003.  In the 2007 version, they now refer to these people you allow to have access as "delegates", and you are able to assign them customized access and permissions.  Delegates can send items on your behalf, and create and respond to meeting requests.

To do this, go to Tools > Options in your main Outlook window, and then go to the far right tab, called "Delegates".  Add a name by clicking the "Add" button, and then choose from the list of dropdowns what you want this delegate to able to do in your Outlook account.  Once you've got it set up the way you want it, select the "Automatically send a message to delegate summarizing these permissions", click OK, and OK again, and you're good to go!  Now that person has access to your email and calendar and can take care of things while you're busy or away.
