Tech Yoda’s Tip of the Week: Google Knows Everything

Sure, you know how to google yourself (don’t pretend you don’t check up on yourself every now and then), but did you know all the other great things you can find in a google search?

WEATHER
  • Type: “weather (location)”
  • Example: “weather Denver”
  • Result: the current weather and 4-day forecast
  • Notes: for the location, you can either type the city or the zipcode
CONVERSION
  • Type: “# (units) in (units)”
  • Example: “34 feet in centimeters” or “491 dollars in euros”
  • Result: the converted answer
  • Notes: try weights, lengths, volumes, currencies, and more—including less common units like barrels or bushels
CALCULATOR

  • Type: “(equation)”
  • Example: “392.04/8”
  • Result: the answer
  • Notes: make sure you use parentheses to follow the order of operations (5+3*2 is not the same as (5+3)*2)
DICTIONARY
  • Type: “define (word)”
  • Example: “define rural”
  • Result: different definition options
