Hello CRHC Staff,
Now that you learned the health benefits of being organized, the 10 mistakes people make while trying to organize and how to de-clutter, we offer some tips on how to stay organized (which can often be the hardest part).
1. Once you have decluttered and have found a place for everything, keep everything in it's place. When you use something, put it back when you are finished. If you acquire something new, find a place for it right away and always keep it there.
2. Create and keep a filing system for important papers. File everything right away. Keep a stock of file folders and labels on hand in case you need to start a new file. Make sure your filing system is simple so that you know exactly where to file a document and where to find it later.
3. Leave some empty space in your storage areas where you can put new items. For instance, once your organize your bookshelf, leave some room on each shelf to add new books.
These steps sound very easy, but it takes practice and commitment to turn these steps into habits. Go forth and be organized!
