Please remember to log your points for week 2. It looks like Clint is in the lead so far - who wants to take that day off away from Clint? You'd better get working!
Looking for ideas on how to stay active and exercise while traveling? In a perfect world, our destination would include a hotel with a deluxe exercise room and a town with paved sidewalks or running trails. But that’s not always available in rural Colorado! Below are a few ideas compiled from several websites and additional links for further reading.
- Bodyweight exercises -- alternate lunges, bodyweight squats, pushups, and ab exercises in your hotel room. Try 15 minutes of alternating circuits between those and if done with enough intensity, this can keep you in shape while traveling.
- Exercise bands -- These can come in handy while traveling because they're light and portable, and can add a whole slew of exercises into the mix beyond just bodyweight exercises. Thanks to Sarah’s mom for setting us up with great exercise bands!
- Stairs -- most hotels have flights of stairs. Take 10 or 15 minutes to purposely go to the stairs and do nothing but go up/down the stairs to get a great workout... mix up walking/running the stairs, taking double steps... you can even mix in stairs lunges and other similar things for variety.
- Get outside -- It might be possible to find a park or field nearby, and do 20-30 minutes of wind sprints or hill sprints mixed with bodyweight exercises
- Maybe even bring a jump rope with you and find a smooth surface to jump rope. Jumping rope is great exercise

A bonus to this week's posting - received from one of our staff members: For all you vegetarians who travel to rural Colorado where there is only fast food...Burger King now serves a veggie burger and apple "fries". Healthy, meatless, and not too bad on taste!
If you have a topic that you'd like the Wellness Committee to research and post about, please let one of us know.
Have a great and healthy week!
