So you've got a window open in front of you (some folder in the S drive, perhaps) and you see several versions of the same document--but which one is the most recent? You can change the way you view your files in any window, which can be very helpful depending on what you're looking for.
Right-click in any window, and move your cursor to the View menu. From the list you have five options, and they each result in something different:
Thumbnail: the largest option, which lets you preview the documents (helpful if you the title of the document is non-descript)
Tile: large icons for easy viewing, plus sizes and program formats
Icon: smaller icons, but can fit more per page to display large quantities of numbers
List: the most space-economical, plus the file extensions are shown, making it easier to determine what program opens that file
Details: tells you how large the file is, when it was last edited, what type of file it is, and even its dimensions, if it's a photo
Want to make sure the settings you create are remembered by your computer? Go to Tools > Folder Options in your folder window and on the view tab, select "Remember each folder's view settings".
